The Ghosts of Castle Stuart...
The question is, are you brave enough to hear about the Three-Turret Haunted Bedroom at the top of the East Tower? If the answer is yes, read on and see if you believe...
Over 70 years ago, rumour had spread across town that the Three Turret Bedroom at Castle Stuart was haunted, causing fear and panic amongst the locals. This made the Earl of Moray determined to prove to everyone that the room was not haunted, so he asked the minister at Petty Church to offer a £20 reward to anyone who would be brave enough to spend a full night in the room.
It was at this stage when the local poacher, Rob Angus, who was commonly known as Big Angus by the locals. This big, kind-hearted man was afraid of nothing, so with good humour he decided to brave the night in the Three Turret Bedroom with the promise of the reward.
When he arrived in the room, he waved off the servant who was there to lock the door behind him. The servant was an old drinking companion of Rob Angus and as he closed the door, he said he would see Rob in the morning. However, what the servant didn’t know was that he would be the last person to see Big Angus alive...
The next morning, the local villagers made a grim discovery when they searched for Big Angus. His body was found in the courtyard face down, and when they inspected closer, the villagers found that he had a look of horror frozen on his face.
The mystery remains to this day, over 70 years on. Did Big Angus jump or was he pushed?
Or was it just a case of too much whisky?
Whatever the explanation, I am not sure that I would be brave enough to sleep in the Three Turret Bedroom, but the question is... are you brave enough?
